Pandiyammal is an elderly and active member of Aavarampoo TG, she also owns a small business to support herself. Although she lives alone she led a happy life but she had a only worry that she doesn’t know how to read or write. she said, “ I was worried that I don’t even know how to read or write, and where will I go to learn at this old age” Pandiyammal (2 nd from right) was seeking for an opportunity to learn literacy. In that situation, the adult literacy section in TG meetings supported her, she slowly learned to read and write along with other elder women.
She said that,” I got many friends in weekly group meetings who are of my same condition and we all learned to put signature of our names together from the weekly meetings”. Pandiyammal said. This learning also helps her to run her shop with much more confidence.
