“What a joy to come out of the house and attend these regular TG meetings. It was Beena Akka (another TG member) who introduced me to TGs and asked me to be a member of the group. She said that I can be empowered in many ways.
Before I joined WISHALL‘s TG, I was always at home sitting inside four walls. Cooking was my only work. When I started attending regular TG meetings, I enjoyed the fellowship we shared and started gaining knowledge through office bearers training. So I started to attend the meetings regularly.
Here is where I was introduced to skill training. I was interested in learning tailoring. So I joined the tailoring classes. I was encouraged to be part of the tailoring unit (WWW) there. I started stitching variety of bags, it gave me immense pride and a sense of self worth in me that a simple home maker like me can stitch bags and totes. I started to earn some income and buy things for my children.
Later our field worker Elizabeth Akka encouraged me to become a hub leader (community level committee) which I willingly became and that helped my confidence level to grow to new heights.
Last month, God blessed me to get a job as security staff in a company. This will help me to lessen the financial burden that my family undergoes especially because of my children’s education. If I hadn’t had the experience with WISHALL, I would have not got the confidence to take up the work. I thank WISHALL and all its staff for empowering RENUKA DEVI (that’s me!). I also thank God once again.
