Her eyes swell with pride as she walks to the factory where Devi has to pack medicines. She is now able to earn around Rs.6000/- per month (about 100 USD). Devi, a home maker is from Tondiarpet community. She has twin girls who are in their primary school. Her husband was a daily wage earner, but could not get work on a daily basis due to lack of skill. She was always eager to earn some income for her family especially for her twin girls and their education. She was very apprehensive even to go out and talk with other women.
Almost a year back a TG woman motivated her to join the tailoring class, where she learnt the skill. As she was also in need for some income, she Joined WISHALL Wonder Works (WWW) and started to make bags and other products in an efficient manner. During the time that she spent at the unit she made wonderful friends. As a result she was able to come out of her shell and shed all the fear, and was confident to converse with others and also to move out to different places.
She was also praying for a job. She also shared her concern to her friends in the WWW. They also prayed for her needs in their weekly prayer. She slowly started to search for a job as her family was in need of a steady income. Her efforts did not go in vain as she got a job in a medicine factory close to her community. She is also happy to be associated with WISHALL as it gave her the needed confidence and new qualities and skills in order to get this job.
