Geetha is from Tondiarpet community, she has been part of the Transformation Group (TG) for the past 3 years. She is a mother of 2 young boys and her husband is working in a goods packing company.

Geetha shares her experience of being part of the group as follows, “before joining the group, I was at home serving my husband and my kids. I did not know anything about the outside world and had only one or two friends.

One of my friends who came to know about the TG was interested to start the TG and she invited to me to be part of the group. I was bit reluctant, but because of her insistence I joined the group. As I started to attend the group meetings, I was very much influenced by the pledge songs and stories in the group. I could also share my problems with the field worker and her prayers encouraged me. I also got many friends now.”

Geetha also has a great desire to learn and develop herself. She learnt to make soap oil and started to prepare it and sell it to her neighbours. She also attended the entire IGA training and she uses the skill that she learnt to improve her business. Now she also prepares soap oil for the general hub business. She also learnt tailoring at our centre and also attended a leather tailoring course organised by the government. She was also very active in the baking class and has started to bake cakes for her family.

As her confidence grew, she also became a leader of her group and now she was the treasurer of the general hub. As part of her role, she facilitated 2 TG’s on a weekly basis. Now she has enough confidence to go into the world… she has now got job as a security person in a big company. Geetha now confidently says. “ I was just an ordinary women, but WISHALL has helped me to grow as a women, I got new friends, had opportunity to learn new things, my family members are respecting me because of the skills that I have developed and also I am able to influence other women in the community. I am thankful to God for bringing in me the transformation in my life.”
