The formation and strengthening of hubs is a direction towards sustainability. They are facilitated to take the lead in various development projects of their community. The efforts put in developing value based leadership in them is begining to bear fruit in the communities. The following are some of the results of their involvement: Chennai floods: during the unprecedented rains in floods in Chennai, their community too was affected. As WISHALL planned to do rehabilitation work for the affected families, the hub took lead in the process. They took the lead in going into the community, visiting families and identifying the most affected families and their needs. They coordinated the distribution of the materials for 52 families. Value based leadership came to the fore when they strongly resisted the pressures by the un affected people in the community who also wanted the materials. They stood firmly and made their own community people understand the need for focusing on the really needy.
Festival of Women
This annual event for TG members was entirely planned, coordinated and implemented by the hub leaders. They divided the activities amongst themselves and accomplished it as a team. They were very proud of their achievements and even learnt various lessons on how to conduct this in a more better way in the next year.
Forming of New TGs
They have also taken the responsibility to share about TG to other women and have motivated them to form new TGs. 5 new groups have come up because of the efforts taken by the hub.
Micro Loan
The hubs also have been instrumental in reviewing and recommending the micro loan applications and also in collecting the loan repayment. This has resulted in almost 100% repayment of loans in a timely manner.
Value Based Leaders
The efforts by the hub, has been a great learning experience for them as well as in building their leadership capacity. The values taught through the Bible stories has been instrumental in making them as;committed leaders; who can be blessing to the community around them.
Business to generate Income
The general hub at Tondirpet has started a small business to sell clothes. They also have plans in the future to start few other small business to enhance the hubs income and make it more sustainable.
